The Metro iX site was constructed in 2008 and includes tier 3 redundancy throughout the centre, the industry benchmark for data centres in WA and is Datacom’s ninth data center in the region.
The world class Metro iX centre includes key features such as biometrics and smart card controlled access to all computer rooms, video monitoring and recording across all areas, VESDA (Very Early Smoke Detection Alarm) with gas fire suppression and tier 3 redundancies across all generators and cooling units. The site has the added advantage of 24/7 manning of the facility 365 days a year, allowing round the clock remote and physical access.
The Metro iX facility is currently utilised by a number of leading corporate and enterprise organizations in WA and as part of Datacom’s ongoing commitment to growth in the WA market, the company will be investing a further $2.5 million in an expansion program allowing for additional cabinets to be housed in a hot/cold isle arrangement.
“The Data Centre acquisition is a tremendous achievement for the WA arm of our organisation, a business that is two years old and has achieved considerable growth in such a short time. It is testament to the commitment of our staff and our existing clients for their continued support” commented Basil Lenzo, MD for Datacom Systems WA.
“We provide the WA market with a unique system integrator capability that offers the true competitive advantage of providing ITC solutions from the desktop through to hosting and managed services.”
The acquisition of Metro iX further emphasizes Datacom’s long standing position as partner of choice in the Asia Pacific region, and brings a wealth of expertise in the ongoing management of the facility. Datacom has a successful 44 year trading history and the addition of the new data centre is expected to generate a very strong annuity stream to the already successful systems integration business.
