Queensland Environmental Protection Agency Case Study

The Environmental Protection Agency (QEPA), which includes the Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service, is a department of the Queensland Government which strives to protect the State’s natural and cultural heritage and ensure a sustainable future.

The department began looking to replace the ageing desktops used by its 2,500 employees in 130 locations across the State. After an extensive review, QEPA selected Datacom to procure the desktop hardware, drive its implementation and manage the entire process including responsible disposal of the old equipment.

The result for QEPA is a 60% cut in the energy consumption of its desktops and a common, stable, scalable environment to support its operations for years to come. The success of this project has led to QEPA pioneering a new standard in government procurement in Queensland.
